Bedroom Community celebrated a full year of monthly events at Kaffibarinn (Reykjavík) last Wednesday, the 8th of July. The label-nights have consisted of performances by the core members and DJ sets to music video premieres and introduction of new music by friends and collaborators.

To celebrate last Wednesday, all of the members performed in a true Bedroom-Community-collaborative-fashion.

Sam Amidon opened the show with a video performance beamed over from Copenhagen, where he stays between concerts and album work this summer. Nico played the piano at Kaffibarinn along with Sam’s faux-satellite broadcast.

Hildur Ingveldardóttir-Guðnadóttir, a special guest of the evening, was the next on stage. She's been a steady Bedroom Community collaborator, appearing on BC albums and concerts from day one. Hildur performed music from her brand new second album, Without Sinking, which we can highly recommend.

Hot on Hildur’s heels was Daníel Bjarnason, the newest member of the label. Daníel gave the audience a foretaste of his upcoming debut album, accompanied by a chamber group of 6. Daníel recently conducted a recording of “Processions”his second piano-concerto with the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra, featuring rising star pianist Víkingur Ólafsson.

Ben Frost, Nico Muhly and Valgeir Sigurðsson shared the second half of the show, performing Ben's "Leo needs a new pair of shoes" from his album By the Throat, to be released in a few moons. Helgi Hrafn Jónsson stole the scene with a breathtaking performance of "Wonders" fromMothertongue, a piece that Nico Muhly wrote specially for Helgi's expansive vocal range. The concert was sealed with Valgeir's "Focal Point" featuring Nico and Sigga Sunna.
