Daniel Pioro - Diane
Daniel Pioro - Diane
I originally wrote this piece of music as the credits sequence for a very special short film by Lindsay Zibach called Seeing Diane Arbus.
Although I scored the whole film, this final sequence has lived in my mind since, and I wanted to isolate it from the film score and, with certain additional sonic elements, give it a fragile but full life.
There is nothing deep about this piece. Or rather, it’s as deep or as shallow as the listener will allow it to be. Where I am particularly fond of the inner lines in the string ensemble, others may find more meaning in the plaintive solo violin line, while others still may lament the brevity of the droned synth lines and spectral strings that make up the first part of this work.
Diane is a sonic photograph. The listener will decide whether it’s a 2D decoration, or a lifetime of hidden stories.
